Six Flags Interested in SeaWorld Parks

Could Six Flags be looking to purchase SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment? According to a Reuters article, both the amusement park giant Six Flags and private equity firm Apollo have reportedly expressed interest in buying the theme park chain. While Six Flags is a well-known name in the United States, Apollo is no stranger to the entertainment industry. The group purchased the Great Wolf Resorts in 2012.

The SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment family entertainment company is now controlled by private equity firm Blackstone Group, which purchased the chain in 2009. The chain includes 11 theme and water parks across the United States.

The SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment chain’s estimated worth is $4 billion. No parties involved have publicly stated their plans.

I’m not sure how this affects SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment’s plans to file for an initial public offering. I anxiously await to see how this plays out.
