Silver Dollar City Celebrates Christmas

The Christmas season is upon us, and Silver Dollar City is well ahead of the decorating game. The theme park is in the midst of its “An Old Time Christmas” event. I’ve seen a number of photos from the event posted on the park’s Facebook page. Below are a few of my favorites.

The park was recently featured on USA Today‘s “10 great places to put a spin on the Christmas spirit” list. After seeing the below photos I think that the park is more than deserving to be listed.

This isn’t a light dusting of lights and bland decorations. The park is extravagantly decorated from top to bottom, inside and out.

New this year at the event is an original musical adaption of the classic It’s a Wonderful Life. The park states: “It’s a Wonderful Life, adapted from the Frank Capra classic, presents a new, musical interpretation of the inspirational story that is a world-wide Christmas favorite…”

It joins a number of other live holiday entertainment offerings.

The park comes alive at night when all of the dazzling lights and decorations illuminate the pathways and buildings.

Many of the park’s attractions operate during the event allowing guests to see the lights and decorations from different angles and heights.

And it wouldn’t be a Christmas event without a parade. The “Gifts of Christmas Holiday Light Parade” takes place twice each evening. Also seen in the above photograph is the 5-story Special Effects Christmas Tree that “twinkles and dances in unison with over one million lights adorning the City’s square.”

Seen above is another one of the many beautifully-decorated Christmas trees placed throughout the park.

Silver Dollar City’s Hospitality House wishes you a Merry Christmas.

Here’s a nice plus to attending An Old Time Christmas: you just may be able to catch a glimpse of Outlaw Run under construction!
