Magic Springs Removing X-Coaster

Magic Springs announced on their Facebook page that X-Coaster, the Maurer Söhne Sky Loop model, will retire at the end of this season.

Opening in 2006, the coaster stands 150 feet tall and features two inversions. The coaster was closed for the duration of the 2009 season due to mechanical issues.

The park’s website reads:

“Magic Springs Water and Theme Park announced today that X-Coaster will be retiring at the end of the 2012 season and that plans are underway for a major new water park addition in 2013. By visiting the park’s annual Halloween event, Magic Screams, guests can take their last flight on X-Coaster and enjoy all the spooktacular fun with family and friends.”

The park will receive a waterpark addition for the 2013 season.

I’m sad to see the coaster leave the park. I think having the unique coaster (to the U.S.) made the park stand out. What are your thoughts of the coaster’s closing? Share in the comments section below.

“Magic Springs announced on their Facebook page that X-Coaster, the Maurer Söhne Sky Loop model that opened in 2006.” …. Did what? The title infers that it is closing I guess.

“The coaster was closed for the 2009 due to mechanical issues” – For the season? The Year? For the duration of? Or was the ‘the’ supposed to be ‘for’?

A very confusing opening two lines there.

Brian, last I heard it was sold to Elitch Gardens and was supposed to be removed but something happened. So, the ride is supposed to operate at Magic Springs this season. Afterwards, who knows…
