Talk about coasting under the radar! Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Hong Kong Disneyland isn’t expected to officially open until July 13, 2012, but technical rehearsals of the new coaster have given us a glimpse of the ride experience. And “wow” is all that I can say. How did I not know how unique this coaster was going to be?
But my words can only do so much. Watch an onride video of the coaster below, but, beware, as spoilers are abound:
Impressive, huh? Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars does not seem to disappoint, at least on video.

I see Big Grizzly Mountain as a “Big Thunder Mountain meets Expedition Everest” coaster. That doesn’t even take into account the surprise launch at the end. The special effects such as the snapping cable and reverse free fall down the lift hill are some of the standout features of this coaster, and should really help in making Hong Kong Disneyland a top-notch Disney park.
If you’ve had the chance to take a ride on Big Grizzly Mountain, tell us what you thought of the ride in the comments section below!
I just spent three days at HK Disney and rode Big Grizzly runaway mine cars about 15 times. There were no lines and this has to be one of the best rides I have ever been on. It seems like three rides in one. I had no idea what to expect so my first ride was a complete surprise. I don’t want to give anything away but; if you have the chance to ride it, do it….fantastic.
Thanks for the update Ken. It looks like Disney’s best coaster to me!
