Canada’s Wonderland Opens for the Season

What perfect weather for opening day, in Canada’s Wonderland; Sunny, warm, breezy and bright, I couldn’t have asked for a better day. I arrived at 9 am and swept right into the park with my season pass, which allowed pass holders entrance into the park an hour early, which meant early ride time on Leviathan. Kids and adults alike ran through the park at full sprint, racing each other for the first seats on the new ride, yelling and laughing the whole way. It was a beautiful sight, one I missed over the long winter days and I became really nostalgic about the whole thing, watching game tenders bring out the prizes, and food stands prepare snacks. It was a lazy Sunday, but excitement was buzzing.

So the lines began at Leviathan. I stuck around to snap some photos though, listening in on coaster fanatics conversations about their expectations of the ride. A hesitant woman anxiously asking the ride operator about what the ride is like. She answered simple: Scary. And fast – really fast.

The line moved along quickly, with only a 10 minute wait. Early riders went on again and again, coming off each time with a huge grin on their faces with wind-swept hair, and watery eyes. But then the hour passed, and a new army of riders sprinted to the ride. You can imagine how the lines got then.

I left the park relatively early, as I had Sunday chores to catch up on, but now that I’m living in Toronto, I’m not so worried in rushing my experiences on each ride. I will be at the park every weekend, so I really focus on rides to their fullest without feeling rushed and winded. Here are some photos from Sunday morning on opening day, hope you enjoy them! Have a great week, coaster lovers!
