Port Aventura building huge B&M megacoaster

PortAventura announced recently many had been guessing… a B&M megacoaster.

The yet-to-be-named coaster will stand nearly 25 stories tall (249 feet), will feature a 256 foot drop, and will reach speeds of 83 mph. Although the coaster’s name hasn’t been officially revealed, the coaster’s theme will somehow be related to the Himalayas.

The PortAventura website states: “PortAventura is preparing the new attraction 2012 to 2012, the highest roller coaster in Europe. A new challenge to experience the feelings that have experienced the more adventurous: promotion to the highest, falls abysmal, dark tunnels and steps to mountain lakes. This new attraction in 2012 allows you to experience many feelings and views all around.”

Above is the ride’s layout. The coaster will likely dwarf Dragon Khan.

We’ll keep you updated on the development of this monster coaster.
