You might have heard the rumors that Alton Towers will open a drop tower in 2012.
Yes, you head correctly. A drop tower.
Yes, the park is handicapped by a stringent height limit (nothing above the tree line), but that hasn’t prevented high-octane thrills such as Nemesis, Oblivion, and Rita. Therefore, I believe this to be a credible rumor.
Some claim that the drop tower will be themed to the Nemesis’ underground lair. We don’t know for sure whether or not the tower will be indoor, outdoor, or a combination of both.
What do you think of the possibility of a drop tower at Alton Towers? Do you think they can pull it off?
I am inclined to believe it is more of a dark ride or walk through. A dark ride seems like it would require a massive (and deep) foundation which would have already begun construction. Eitherway, I wouldn’t expect anything TOO big in the wake of this SW7 rumor.
