Universal Orlando Trip Report July 2011

Coaster101 visited the Universal Orlando Resort from July 5th through the 9th. This was my first time staying onsite at one of Universal’s three hotels. Though pricey and not as nice as the four diamond rating would suggest, it was worth it for the Express passes, early entry into Islands of Adventure for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and the convenience of being within walking distance of both parks (especially when it rained).

While at the park I posed a question via twitter, which ride was more immersive: Spiderman or Harry Potter? Well, after several rides on each I have to give the nod to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Each time we rode we noticed more and more details, like the floating/moving book in the Dumbledore scene.

Here are a few pictures and a brief recap of our trip:

We stayed onsite at the Royal Pacific Resort.

Early entry into IOA at 7am.

Green eggs and ham.

Where is everybody? In line for Potter.

I've heard Mythos is off limits if they choose to expand Potterland.

Could this one day become the Chamber of Secrets?

Potter-ville!

The pinnacle of theme park engineering lies inside...

Hogwarts Castle.

Inside Jurassic Park Discovery Center.

Classic shot. You could hear the Hulk inside our hotel. Gotta love the B&M roar!

Animal Actor's Show at Universal Studios.

One of the fun little surprises at the studios park- basically an interactive, hilarious puppet.

Rip Ride Rockit. It looks so awesome. Too bad it rides like a wooden coaster.

I have a love hate relationship with this ride.

And it's shut down again. Time to get everyone down.

Thanks for reading!
