Windseeker at Cedar Point is open

After some minor delays, Windseeker at Cedar Point officially opened on the night of June 14, 2011. From the OnPoint! blog:

“It’s the moment you all have been waiting for. . . WindSeeker is now open!

Guests in the park last night were surprised when the ride opened just a couple hours before the park closed.

We hosted an impromptu ribbon cutting ceremony with Dick Kinzel, President and CEO of Cedar Fair, and John Hildebrandt, Vice President and General Manager of Cedar Point.

Several committed fans waited outside the ride for HOURS to be the first guests on the ride. They were thrilled to get the first ride last night!

I had a couple chances to ride, including just before the ride opened to the public last night. I was blown away. Pun intended.

WindSeeker offers a completely unique ride experience and is perfectly placed on the Cedar Point Beach! I love being able to look down on the 210′ tall Wicked Twister and look out to Lake Erie. On a clear day, you might even be able to see Canada!

But my favorite part is the music! The ride vehicle is fitted with speakers so the music goes with you as the ride lifts up the 301′ tall tower. There is a playlist featuring many different songs from some of your favorite movies. Now the question is, who will be the first to ride enough times to hear all of the different songs?

Stay tuned for more blogs, photos, tweets, posts, PointCasts, and of course POV videos of the ride!”

Below is a video of the ride testing at night. The lighting is beautiful:

Windseeker appears to be another success for Cedar Point!
