Street View: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

One of my favorite parts of going to a park is seeing the park’s skyline of towering coasters slowly come into sight. As a child I would peak over the seats in front of me trying to be the first to spot the tallest point of Six Flags Great America’s Raging Bull or the peak of the Giant Drop. Even as an adult, I still find joy in the encountering the first sight of a coaster while approaching a park.

And thanks to Google Street View, I can now do the same for parks thousands of miles away! I am beginning a series entitled “Street View,” where I will post Google Street View shots of various parks from nearby roads.

The first park in the “Street View” series is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Set in Vallejo, California, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s skyline features a beautiful backdrop of mountains.

You’ll first see Medusa, one of the park’s tallest coasters as you approach from the north on Fairgrounds Road.

Kong, the park’s Vekoma SLC will come into view as you approach California State Route 37.

If you approach the park from the opposite direction, V2’s bright red track comes into view first.

As you near the entrance sign, both V2 and Roar come into plain sight.

Feel free to request parks to get the “Street View” treatment and let me know what you think about this series.
