Universal Guide, new app for iPhone, iPod Touch

The Universal Guide app recently released by Theme Park Nerd Ltd. is the perfect app to use when visiting the Universal Orlando resort. The app’s creator, Mark Locker, describes the app as a “park map on steroids.” Universal Guide gives users instant notifications of wait time changes by using push notification. The app gives users detailed information on all the parks’ attractions, including rides, retail and dining locations. These points of interest within the parks are sorted by distance from the user, giving users the closest coaster, restaurant, shop, or even ATM machine. The app’s capabilities are endless.

Users can be notified by the app when a certain ride’s wait time has dropped below a certain number. “Say your favourite ride is Revenge of the Mummy, you can ask Universal Guide to alert you when the queue is less than 20 minutes, for example. This is going to help people avoid long queues and will genuinely enhance their day”, explains Mark.

The app covers all of the attractions at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and CityWalk. With the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, this app will definitely come in handy throughout the busy summer months. We highly recommend it, whether this is your first time to Universal or you’re a regular. Also, all future updates to the park will be delivered without the need for an update through the app store.

“We want to deliver a better park visiting experience to as many people as possible. That’s why we’ve worked hard to implement a way for iPod touch users to still be able to take advantage of the location-aware features of the app.”
