Orlando 2010: Magic Kingdom Trip Report

Magic Kingdom was the first stop on our 2010 Orlando expedition and while the park was crowded our group managed to hit the more popular attractions within the park.

You know you’ve arrived when you see the iconic train station and hear the train’s loud whistle.

First stop: Tomorrowland. A couple of rides on the newly-rennovated Space Mountain proved to be a great way to kick off the day. While there were no major changes to the ride experience, it was good to see different aspects of the ride updated.

The Tomorrowland midway features Stitch’s Great Escape and the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.

Fantasyland looked significantly different from our last visit to the park a few years ago, most notably the plethora of construction walls bordering the land.

This signage, along with most of Toontown has limited time before it is overtaken by the Fantasyland expansion.

Luckily the coaster itself will be saved and incorporated into the new area.

It wouldn’t be a trip to Fantasyland without a spin on Dumbo!

The “butt” of Cinderella Castle… not too shabby!

I think at one point during the day there were more strollers than people.

What former attraction departed from this building?

It’s a small world after all!

I wormed my way out of this attraction in previous trips… I took one for the team today.

Splash Mountain is still one of my all-time favorite water rides. It’s so epic!

I guess others had the great idea of coming the week before Memorial Day weekend!

I wonder if Debbie Downer is catching the show (Never watched Saturday Night Live? Ignore this caption).

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is still my favorite at Magic Kingdom!

It’s a ride I have no problem with riding over and over again!

I want to be that one guy floating around in the bath tub!

I think this ride was about pirates or something. The real show was the group of women in front of us worrying the entire ride about whether or not they would get their hair wet.

An approaching storm sent us to The Grand Floridian to eat dinner.

Luckily after the storm passed we returned to a much less-crowded Magic Kingdom.

The illuminated castle is a sight to see!

Maybe next time, Phillharmagic!

The last cruise of the night arrives.

What a better way to end a day at Magic Kingdom than with a firework show…
