La Ronde and Great Escape Announce 2018 Additions

As part of Six Flags major 2018 Announcements today, the chain’s two parks that do not feature the Six Flags moniker made some announcements of their own for 2018.

La Ronde

La Ronde, Six Flags’ lone Canadian property is adding a carnival-themed family zone, Carnaval en Folie (loose English translation: Carnival Madness), complete with three exciting new rides sure to delight the young and young at heart.

Carnaval en Folie is a brand new zone dedicated entirely to families. Guests will be fully immersed in an atmosphere inspired by fairs and carnivals of yesteryear with rich, bright colors, dazzling lights, festive music, and crackling popcorn. Extravagantly decorated, Carnaval en Folie features three new family-friendly rides.

  • Torsade, a spinning tilt a whirl where parents can ride with their kids;
  • A fun-size ferris wheel, Petite Roue, for the best view of the Carnaval;
  • Tourbillon, a scrambler attraction for thrill seekers in training. Tourbillon is french for “Whirlwind.”

The area will be opening during La Ronde’s opening weekend in 2018.

Great Escape

Located just an hour north of Albany, New York, The Great Escape will be adding a new flat ride, Pandemonium, in 2018.

 This sensational spin on a classic thrill ride will have guests catching maximum air and experiencing 360-degrees of adrenaline-packed excitement. The non-stop twisting and turning of Pandemonium will deliver fun for families of all ages.

“Six Flags is the leader in thrill ride innovations and well-known for introducing amazing rides and attractions in every park, every year,” said Six Flags Great Escape Resort President Eric Gilbert. “Pandemonium is a classic family thrill ride with a unique, modern spin—guaranteed to deliver a heart-pounding experience for riders of all ages while re-energizing the popular Alpine Fest area in the center of our beautiful park.”

Pandemonium will seat 24 riders in a “face-out” position and begin to lift, spin and tilt at all angles. It quickly accelerates faster and faster to maximum speed, whirling guests through seemingly endless rotations of spinning insanity. An electrifying light package will dazzle onlookers and complement the twisting, twirling mayhem of the ride itself.

The new attraction will be located alongside a park favorite, Screaming Eagles in the historic Alpine Fest Area where Pandemonium’s lights will illuminate the entire area.
