Six Flags Magic Mountain Justice League Opening Date Announced

After being quiet about their new attraction through the Spring, Six Flags Magic Mountain revealed on Twitter yesterday evening a July 12 opening date for Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. The ride is an updated version of the Justice League dark ride that has opened at several Six Flags parks in recent years, including at Six Flags over Georgia and Six Flags Great Adventure earlier this year.

The ride, built by Sally Corporation, is an interactive dark ride in which riders battle alongside Justice League super heroes against Lex Luthor and fellow DC Comics villains. It features a mix of animatronics, practical “4D” effects like mist and fire, and high definition 3D animations. For details on earlier versions of the ride, you can check out our reviews of both the “Generation 1” ride at Six Flags St. Louis as well as the “Generation 2” model at Six Flags Great America.

The newest version of the ride is expected to offer even more than the previous versions, with new animatronic characters (like popular Batman villain Harley Quinn). In an interview with Theme Park Insider, Rich Hill, Creative Director for Sally Corporation, talked a little bit more about what makes the new ride different from the past versions. Additionally, back when the ride was first announced, park president Bonnie Sherman Weber said of the ride,“Six Flags Magic Mountain is thrilled to once again ‘up the ante’ in Southern California’s theme park mecca and introduce one of the most state-of-the-art, innovative motion-based attraction in the world – the next generation of Six Flags award-winning Justice League: Battle for Metropolis.”

In the past few years Magic Mountain has “refreshed” each section of the park where a new attraction opens, for example adding the “Screampunk” area when Twsited Colossus opened and the new stores and fresh coats of paint around New Revolution when it opened. We know that Riddler’s Revenge has been repainted, but we haven’t heard about any other updates to the area. We’ve reached out to Magic Mountain for more details, and we’ll update the post when we learn anything.
