Mystic Timbers First Rider Auction

Coaster101 contributors Nick and Kyle are planning on participating in the Mystic Timbers First Rider Auction and are looking for your help! Kings Island and Cedar Fair Charities are joining with the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation to give us fans a chance to raise money for a great charity and be some of the first people to ride the new wooden coaster. All proceeds of the First Riders Auction will benefit the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-changing experiences to seriously ill and physically challenged children and their families in the Cincinnati area.

Kyle: Here at Coaster101, we love helping out and giving back as much as we can!

Nick: Yup, everything from making a video in our spare time about roller coaster physics for a third grade class, to donating proceeds from our annual coaster calendar to Give Kids the World.

Kyle: If you’re able to, we’d love it if you could help us reach our fundraising goals for the First Riders Auction to be held on April 13th.

Nick: So Kyle, we’ve already named Mystic Timbers our number one most anticipated roller coaster opening in America in 2017. What are you most looking forward to about Mystic Timbers?

Kyle: I love coasters that make close calls with their surroundings. I can’t wait to see how Mystic Timbers interacts with the woods it’s built through. My hope is that Kings Island tried to remove as little trees as possible.

Nick: Right. I’m excited to have a GCI so close to us. I love airtime and it looks like Mystic Timbers will deliver that in spades with a fast, non-relenting layout. Now most importantly, #whatsintheshed? Do you have a prediction for what we’re going to find in the shed?

Kyle: Free Blue Ice Creams (a guy can hope, right?). I suppose something that would be more likely would be a drop track. Unless it is something more theatrical, I can’t really think of what coaster element would be a realistic option. If it is a drop track, I hope that it has a fast reset and won’t slow operations at all.

Nick: When I first saw the animation when the ride was announced my first thought was immediately “drop track!” But now I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t think there will be any track movement at all (hope I’m wrong though!). Instead, I think we’re looking at something more like Adventure Express 2.0.  Instead of going through a boring transfer track it will be a themed transfer track, which is a cool idea. My guess is there will be some kind of media, possibly created by Holovis, the company behind Battle for Cedar Point. But we’ll find out for sure in April.

Kyle: We’re really looking forward to riding Mystic Timbers and supporting a great cause at the same time! If you have a dollar or two to spare we’d love it if you could donate to one of our fundraising pages:
