Inside Justice League: Battle for Metropolis at Six Flags Over Georgia

This weekend, as part of the American Coaster Enthusiasts’ “Winter Warm Up” event held at Six Flags Over Georgia, we got to tour the park’s new Justice League: Battle for Metropolis dark ride, which is currently under construction. The ride is scheduled to open in the re-imagined “Metropolis Park” area at Six Flags Over Georgia over Memorial Day Weekend, 2017. We were able to get some photos of everything going on in the area, which includes a fresh coat of paint on Six Flags Over Georgia’s B&M Flyer, Superman: Ultimate Flight.

Superman: Ultimate Flight

Superman: Ultimate Flight is receiving a new coat of paint this off-season, and is simplifying its color scheme, from red track and yellow rails to an all red track. The coaster will still have blue supports.

Workers were prepping the track for paint and power-washing the old paint off.

Some of the new “all red” track color scheme was visible in places throughout the ride.

Superman: Ultimate Flight’s new paint job should be finished by Opening Day for Six Flags Over Georgia, which is March 11, 2017.

Justice League: Battle for Metropolis

Six Flags Over Georgia is one of three Six Flags Parks (Great Adventure, Magic Mountain) receiving Justice League dark rides for the 2017 season. A huge amount of progress has been made on the attraction, which is a joint effort between the Sally Corporation, Oceaneering, and Alterface. It is scheduled to open to the public on the Friday before Memorial Day.

The exterior of the building resembles other “Halls of Justice” across the Six Flags Chain.

Six Flags Over Georgia Park President Dale Kaetzel, Communications Manager Gene Petriello, and Director of Maintenance Terry Stephens telling us about Justice League: Battle for Metropolis.

We entered the ride through the gift shop/exit, which is 64 square feet larger than other parks’ versions of the ride.

We were lucky to get up close and personal with the Justice League Ride Vehicles, which seat six. There are nine ride vehicles in all.

Representatives from the Sally Corporation were on hand to explain the back story for Justice League: Battle for Metropolis.

We got to walk the length of the track, and take a look at all of the physical set pieces that have been installed. The level of detail inside this attraction is unlike anything I’ve ever seen at the regional park level.

One of my favorite details in the attraction is actually something most riders would never notice. There is an office scene in the attraction with two desks, and each desk has its own individual coffee mug. I thought they were clever .

Riders are invited to share their scores on Social Media following the ride.
