Recently, Carowinds opened their brand-new Carolina Harbor water park expansion. It’s going to be the perfect place to beat the heat this summer.

But did you know that Carowinds’ water park was originally a separate ticketed attraction that was owned independently from the park? Or that Carolina Harbor is actually the 5th name that the water park at Carowinds has had?

In a guest post for Carowinds’ AirTime Blog, I examined the history of the water park, which has grown from a single wave pool named Ocean Island into the “largest water park in the Carolinas.”
