Baron 1898, Efetling’s new Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) dive machine, opens to the public today after being previewed to the media yesterday.
Baron 1898 features a 123-foot vertical plunge into an underground tunnel, reaching a top speed of 56 mph.
Riders sit six abreast in three rows for a total of 18 per train.
Baron 1898, like many of Efteling’s attractions, features an elaborate backstory surrounding gold miner “Gustave Hooghmoed” whose efforts to secure more gold are sabotaged by the “Weird Sisters.”
The coaster features two inversions: an Immelmann following the first drop and a zero-G roll.
The coaster’s short-but-sweet 1,643-foot layout concludes with a 360-degree helix.
