Coaster101 turned 10 years old last Monday, and to celebrate, we’re looking back at our favorite posts from the past decade. We’re also giving away TEN Coaster101 Prize Packs! Today we’re revisiting to 2014.
The website’s appearance has remained largely the same since “Coaster101 V5” was launched in late 2013. a complete redesign of the website (and the design still present today).
However, we did reveal our alternate logo in November, designed by our very own graphic designer and writer, Kyle Lindner.
2014 was another exciting year for the website and the amusement industry overall. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley opened at Universal Studios Florida, and Nick wrote an in-depth analysis of the new Escape from Gringotts. He also explained how the (also new) Hogwarts Express attraction worked.
Our social media manager Larry reviewed the new No Limits 2 coaster simulation and design program. Nick gave us an overview look at the fascinating “robocoaster.”
Carowinds officially announced Fury 325, which marked the beginning of several months of construction-watching as the giant B&M coaster rose into the sky.
Six Flags Great America’s record-breaking Goliath was the main attraction of 2014 for me. Working down the street from Six Flags Great America, I was able to provide extensive coverage of the coaster’s construction and opening.
Nick and Kyle were both on-hand to preview Banshee at Kings Island, and they co-authored a review of the B&M inverted coaster.
This past year was without a doubt our most exciting. So far it doesn’t appear that 2015 will disappoint!
