SeaWorld Planning 200-foot-tall Coaster for 2016

SeaWorld Orlando is planning what is being touted as Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster — a 200-foot-tall (possibly Bolliger & Mabillard) coaster.

An official statement from SeaWorld Orlando reads:

Something is stirring beneath the surface at SeaWorld Orlando, preparing to rise from the ocean depths and soar to thrilling new heights. Get ready for the frenzy of SeaWorld’s new 200-foot-tall coaster. In 2016, this thriller will take its place atop the food chain as Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest coaster. More details on the new addition will surface in late-May. SeaWorld is a one-of-a-kind theme park with a variety of attractions including awe-inspiring animal encounters, thrilling rides and spectacular shows.

The park is encouraging fans to follow the #NothingFaster hashtag on Twitter as the “frenzy” begins.

The coaster’s “tallest” status in Orlando may be short-lived, as the 570-foot-tall Orlando Skyscraper coaster is slated to open in 2017. Nevertheless, the Orlando area has been lacking in the airtime-filled hyper department.

But where will this new coaster be built?

Online speculation suggests that the coaster’s entrance may be situated between the Nautilus Theater and the Shark Encounter attraction.

If that were the case, an out-and-back hyper coaster could be laid out as pictured below:

But what if B&M were to open a hyper “twister” coaster like Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America? Hey, a guy can dream.

Of course, this is assuming that B&M is behind this project. Since SeaWorld parks have enlisted Mack, Intamin, Premier and Zierer for their recent coasters, I think anything is possible.
