If you’re like me, you may have embarrassingly forgotten that Knoebels is building a Zierer steel looping coaster for the 2015 season.
It’s not that I don’t care about Knoebels. It’s one of my favorite parks that I’ve never visited. But after being announced well over a year before its scheduled opening, I just haven’t followed the coaster’s construction.
But that all changed when I saw that Knoebels recently topped out the coaster’s 98-foot-tall vertical lift hill and drop. And it looks amazing:
As you can see above, there’s still track pieces left to be installed in the coaster’s 1,975-foot-long layout.
Riders will reach a top speed of 55 mph following the 90-degree plunge.

In the shot above, you can see all four of the coaster’s inversions: a vertical loop, cobra roll (2 inversions) and an inline twist. The park has been without a looping coaster since Whirlwind, a Vekoma corkscrew coaster, closed in 2004.
Hopefully it won’t be long before the track is complete so that testing can begin.
