Want some historic Disneyland memorabilia?

No, we’re not doing a give away, but if you’ve ever wanted to own some authentic, historic Disneyland memorabilia now’s your chance!  A collection of over 1,000 items from early Disneyland is going up for auction later this month in Southern California at Van Eaton Galleries.  The collection, which comes from an anonymous private collector, contains everything from employee badges and uniforms to park blueprints to full on props and set pieces.

A few of the highlights, via the LA times, include a doll from It’s a Small World, an original Pinocchio character head from 1968, and a Pirates of the Caribbean skeleton (it’s the one drinking the bottle of wine).

Of course, these items aren’t going cheap.  The entire collection is expected to pull in about $1,000,000, with some of the items (like the skeleton above) expected to pull tens of thousands of dollars.  Still, if you’re interested, the Gallery is open for viewing Monday through Saturday for the rest of the month, and the full catalog will be online starting tomorrow, February 5.  The auction itself will take place Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1 (online bidding can also be done if you can’t make it to the gallery).  At the very least, it’s free to peruse the items before the auction, so if you’re in the area it’s kind of like a free Disneyland museum.

More info can be found in the LA times article, and details of the auction as well as the online catalog (when it goes up) can be found on the Van Eaton Gallery website.  Let us know if any of you see anything cool you’d consider bidding on!
