Wind Damages Under-Repair Scenic Railway

A historic Scenic Railway under restoration partially collapsed due to strong winds over the weekend, according to a report by BBC News.

Originally opened in 1920, Dreamland’s (Margate, Kent, England) historic Scenic Railway operated until 2005, even after Dreamland closed in 2003.

The coaster was the victim of an arson attack in 2008 and has stood silent until a restoration project recently began to bring the attraction back to life.

Despite the setback, those in charge of the project still expect the Scenic Railway to be operation by its targeted opening of summer 2015.

According to the report, crews were on site almost immediately to continue the restoration work, which includes replacing all of the wooden track and support structure.
