Kentucky Kingdom Preparing for 2015

Kentucky Kingdom is following up its successful “comeback season” with the addition and reopening of five attractions, including the T2 suspended coaster.

What was once a shuttered Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is now a thriving, locally owned amusement park. In total, Kentucky Kingdom, led by original owner Ed Hart, is investing nearly $10 million for the 2015 season.

In 2014, nearly 600,000 guests passed through Kentucky Kingdom’s turnstiles. And 117,000 of those were season pass holders.

Three of the “new for 2015” rides are returning from the Six Flags days, including T3 (T2), Enterprise and the Raging River Rapids Ride (The Penguin’s Blizzard River).

SkyCatcher (Star Flyer, top middle) and Cyclos (spinning swing, top right) are both new to the park.

Ed Hart, pictured above, announced the 2015 investment late last month.

Preparation for the 2015 season (beginning in April) has already begun.

As T2 becomes T3, the coaster is “returning to its original red,” according to the park’s Facebook. The revamped coaster will also receive two new trains. The coaster first opened in 1995 as North America’s first Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster (SLC).
