Busch Gardens Williamsburg Releases Howl-O-Scream Details

Busch Gardens Williamsburg released details for their 16th Annual “Howl-O-Scream” event today.

Cursed

The theme of this year’s Howl-O-Scream is “Cursed,” and the event runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from September 12-October 26. At the stroke of 6 p.m., the ghouls and haunts come out to play and Busch Gardens becomes a seriously scary place.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s 2013 edition of “Howl-O-Scream,” “The Dark Side of the Gardens,” featured six Haunted Houses; 13: Your Number’s Up, Bitten, Catacombs, Cut Throat Cove, Deadline, and Root of All Evil, as well as four “Terror-tories;” Demon Street, Ports of Skull, Ripper Row, and Vampire Point

A new, fifth, Terror-tory; Wendigo Woods, will be joining the line up for 2014. Wendigo Woods will be located in Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s New France section. It will explore the frightful nature of the unknown with the scares being more psychological than physical.

From the Howl-O-Scream Website: Wendigo Woods™ started out as a state-of-the-art facility where researchers could study the flora and fauna of the northern reaches of the continent’s forests. The camp was named after a terrifying creature, the Wendigo, which was thought to be only a legend … until now. Sightings of mysterious creatures stalking through the woods have prompted a security team to shut down the compound and contain whatever is out there. Either unravel the mystery of Wendigo Woods or fall prey to the terror in the trees.

MonsterStomp

After a three-year hiatus, Howl-O-Scream’s “Monster Stomp” will return as well with a new version: “Monster Stomp on Ripper Row.” Monster Stomp on Ripper Row is a modern rock-and-rhythm spectacular featuring Jack the Ripper in an electrifying percussion, dynamic dance and sensational singing revue in the park’s Globe Theatre. Video-mapping technology, 3-D soundscapes and other technology available inside the  Theatre will transport the audience to London’s East End where the Ripper’s horrifying acts occurred.

According to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, “Like the rest of Howl-O-Scream, our team is ramping up the thrills of every element in this Howl-O-Scream production and encourages parents to think twice before bringing their children to the show.”

Finally, A new song was produced this year to coincide with the park’s frightful offering. You might hear the song playing over the park’s sound system, but heed this one piece of advice:don’t listen. It’s said that strange things start happening whenever you hear the haunting melody. Rumor has it the song curses its listeners who must then survive a night of paranormal horrors at Howl-O-Scream to lift it.

Other seasonal park offerings include Vampire Vogue, a new merchandise shop in the Oktoberfest section of the park; dining and spirit options like Pirate Baarrrgh in the Italy village and Igor’s Fright Feast in Oktoberfest as well as two other live shows, “Fiends” and “Night Beats” which both incorporate music into their acts as well.
