We’re well into the 2014 roller coaster season, so it’s time to dust off those cameras for our annual photography contest!
This year’s contest includes three categories: original, edited and, new this year, selfie. See below for more information on entry categories and contest rules.
Photo entries will be accepted through Friday, July 18, 2014.

Photo Entry Categories
1. Original
These photos should not be noticeably altered. Minor retouching is acceptable. Black-and-white photos are also acceptable.
2. Edited
These photos should showcase extensive editing.
3. Selfie (NEW)
Enter a “selfie” photo that was taken at a park. Also acceptable in this category are purchased on-ride photographs provided by the park.
You can make any modifications (i.e. Photoshop) to the photograph. IMPORTANT: Follow all park policies when taking a selfie. Many parks do not allow loose articles such as cameras to be taken on rides. Coaster101 will assume on-ride photos were taken in accordance with park policies.
Rules & Information
- Photos may be entered Monday, July 7, 2014 through Friday, July 18, 2014.
- Participants may submit one photo per category.
- Photos may be no larger than 2mb in size.
- The entered photo must have been taken by the submitter (with the exception of a purchased on-ride photograph).
- Photos in the “original” and “edited” categories should contain at least one roller coaster in the photo. The selfie coaster should pertain in some way to roller coasters.
- By entering a photo, the photographer agrees to allow Coaster101 to use the photo for future photo contest promotions.
Voting
Voting will begin on Monday, July 21, 2014 and will run through Friday, July 25, 2014. Voters will choose their favorite photo from each category. Voters may vote only once.
NEW THIS YEAR: Along with voting conducted on the website, each category will also have its own gallery on our Facebook page. Additional votes will be given for each Facebook “like” the photo receives.
Winners
A first place winner and an honorable mention will be named for each category, as determined by readers’ votes. First place winners will receive a Coaster101 prize pack including prizes from parks across the country!
