Another Goliath Construction Update

Yesterday I made a quick stop at Six Flags Great America to see construction crews working hard to hopefully finish Goliath within the next week.

002

As has been the case for the past few weeks, the Goliath site is bustling with activity.

008

I do believe I spot Goliath’s lift hill chain waiting to be installed.

009

Several workers were concentrated on an area near the top of the lift hill.

010

A few others were scattered at various places on the lift hill.

The “Thrill Seekers” gift shop that Goliath riders will exit from now has signage. Of course it will be full of Goliath souvenirs to purchase after riding.

011

The Goliath ride plaza is now nearly complete.

014

The old Iron Wolf queue will be reused as Goliath’s main queue area. It will probably be a while before you see it this empty again.

015

Pictured above is the exit path that leads from Goliath’s station into the gift shop.

016

The inverted section of the zero-g stall is complete.

018

But it is still awaiting grout (to reduce the coaster’s noise).

020

Seeing buttons and other electrical hardware is a good sign, right?

021

Goliath’s structure reminds me of a wooden Millennium Force hybrid.

022

The lift chain return is in place. I’m not a huge fan of its white color as it stands out against the brown supports. But as long as the coaster opens soon, I don’t care what color it is.

023

Don’t look directly at Goliath when the sun is setting or you’ll be blinded by the reflective supports.

026

Here, crews are filling the track with grout.

028

It looks like the crews had a bit of an accident — I noticed liquid grout running down the topper track on the first drop.

025

Goliath is a fascinating roller coaster to look at (and hopefully ride).

Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages — I’ll be posting more Goliath updates over the weekend.
