The following week, on April 19, the pier will debut a new Wave Swinger that replaces the beloved original attraction of the same style.

The new Wave Swinger will pay homage to the original attraction and the pier’s history, according to a press release from Morey’s Piers: “Standing 11 feet higher, the ride boasts a fresh design with panels displaying 72 portraits representing Wildwood history. All provided by the Wildwood Historical Society, black and white photos of the Starlight Ballroom and Ocean Pier, along with colored shots of The Flyer and Planet of the Apes attractions are some of the iconic images depicted on the top panels. A spinning art gallery of Wildwood antiquity, the new Wave Swinger will have riders soaring 50 feet above the beach when in motion.”

And this season, with a new ride comes new food. The Taco Joint is a cantina-style restaurant serving tacos, quesadillas, fresh salsas, nachos and margaritas. The eatery’s menu features specialty dishes from Morey’s Piers Executive Chef Wally Jurusz including: “the Mahi Mahi a la Plancha Taco with shaved cabbage and red onions, pico de gallo, and fresh crema; the Korean Short Rib Taco featuring Korean BBQ beef with cabbage-cucumber slaw; the Carne Asada Taco with San Diego style marinated beef in a corn tortilla with shaved lettuce, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo and salsa roja; fried cheesecake topped with choice of dulce de leche or bananas; and much more.”
