Miracle Strip Construction Overview

Construction of the newest reincarnation of Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach, Fla., is underway, just 200 feet from the 2010 followup to the original Miracle Strip.

Confused yet? The original Miracle Strip Amusement Park operated from 1963 until 2004. In 2010, a smaller version of the amusement park opened at Pier Park, the city’s outdoor shopping mall. A few of the original Miracle Strip rides opened at this much smaller Pier Park location.

But the new location was so well received that more space was needed to expand the mini park’s offerings.

The nearby 14-acre tract of land provides more space for the park’s growing list of attractions. One of them is the historic Starliner wooden coaster which operated at the original Miracle Strip (and for a brief time at Cypress Gardens). It is scheduled to reopen in 2015.

The current Miracle Strip at Pier Park closed earlier this year in advance of the move. Below is a map of the park as it existed from 2010 until 2013:

While the Starliner won’t open until 2015, RipTide, a SDC Galaxi coaster, will open in 2014 at the new park.

The coaster has since been repainted since this photograph was taken.

Miracle Strip at Pier Park is scheduled to open at its newest location in April 2014. Stay tuned to the park’s website and Facebook page to watch the park’s rebirth continue.
