Kings Island Trip Report

Yesterday, I had the chance to make it to Kings Island for the first time this year! The rain held off for us and we ended up having a great day. The wait times varied from 20 minutes to an hour so we got quite a few rides in! We started our day with two of my favorite coasters: Diamondback and The Beast.

Diamondback is still as smooth as ever and provides great speed and airtime. I think I could ride it all day long!

Surprisingly, Diamondback had the shortest wait times all day.

Watch Out! The Beast is next!

You can’t go wrong riding The Beast. It will give you one of the best coaster experiences you’ll ever have. Once you crest the first hill, the rest of the park is left behind and you are sent flying into the backwoods. My favorite part of the ride is the enclosed double helix at the end, it gives you the “out of control” feeling!

I also took my second ride on KI’s Windseeker. I actually like the Windseeker rides even though they seem to get a bad reputation. Apart from being a pretty quick ride, it gives riders some great views of the park, especially The Racer right underneath it.

Another ride I really enjoy is Firehawk. The sensations it gives cannot be found on any other coaster. My favorite part is going head first on your back into the loop!

You can’t go to Kings Island without having one of their famous Blue Ice Creams!

Other coasters I got to ride were: Flight of Fear, Vortex and Flight Deck. Before leaving for the day, my wife and I got to do our first “Rip Cord” ride! I’ve always wanted to try one and it was really fun! After pulling the cord, you free fall for 30 or 40 feet before the rope snugs and sends you swinging back and forth. Below is a video of our flight! If you haven’t been to Kings Island yet, you need to make a trip! There is something for everyone and they have some great coasters!
