PortAventura Expands Water Park

PortAventura recently opened a massive expansion to the park’s Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.

The waterpark expansion is a part of PortAventura’s ongoing effort to position itself as the “best European holiday destination,” as the press release states.

Seen in the above photograph are many of the new slides and pools added to the waterpark.

The swimmers from Spain’s national ladies synchronized swimming team inaugurated the pools with their best choreography.

King Khajuna

The expansion’s flagship expansion, King Khajuna features a 101-foot drop at a 55° descent. The adjacent Ciclón Tropical red slide features a shorter drop for those warming up to King Khajuna.

Rapid Race

Rapid Race, a six-lane slide allows guests to race along one another on mats.

Sésamo Beach

The Sésamo Beach children’s swimming pool includes two low depth levels and a pirate ship filled with Sesame Street Characters.

Playa Paraíso

The Caribbean-themed waterpark also features Playa Paraíso, a lush pool area suitable for the entire family. The area includes waterfalls and other effects, and is connected to the children’s pool area mentioned above. The entire waterpark area is home to more than 50 species of plants and palms.

With this expansion, Costa Caribe Aquatic Park now includes 16 slides and attractions.
