Meet the New Coaster101 Team Members

Within the last several months we have welcomed two new teammates to the Coaster101 family, and we want you to get to know them better.

larryt About

Larry Treece, Social Media Manager

Late last year, we brought on Larry Treece as our social media manager. This year’s A-Z Coaster of the Week feature is the brainchild of Treece. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you see Larry’s work each and every day.

If you could build any roller coaster in your backyard, which would it be and why?

The coaster I’d want in my backyard would be The Smiler. Having that much track combined into such a small layout with 14 inversions, it’s just nuts! Not to mention, it would hide very well in almost any setting due to Alton Tower’s restrictions on height.

If you could meet any roller coaster designer or amusement industry legend (alive or deceased), who would it be and why?

This one was a tough one out of 2, but I’d would of loved to had the chance to meet Ron Toomer. What he did for roller coasters has left an amazing impact on the industry. We probably wouldn’t have roller coasters like Gatekeeper or Diamondback without his ideas about inversions such as the corkscrew or designing non-inverting hyper coasters like Magnum XL-200. My second pick would be Wener Stengel, the man who has designed over 500 roller coasters around the world and the man who brought the loop back to roller coasters.

What’s your favorite in-park eatery or food?

My favorite kind of park food would have to be the classic funnel cake, with toppings of strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream.

Tell us an interesting tidbit about yourself.

I’m currently getting a degree in photography, so I’ll be posting a lot of pictures this summer of trips to parks! Be on the look out for them in the coming months!

kyle About

Kyle Linder, Writer

Kyle joined the team in February of this year, and has already contributed some outstanding content to the website.

If you could build any roller coaster in your backyard, which would it be and why?

I would build Millennium Force because it combines all of my favorite parts of coasters: speed, airtime, and hugging the ground.

If you could meet any roller coaster designer or amusement industry legend (alive or deceased), who would it be and why?

I would like to meet La Marcus Thompson. He is known as the “father of gravity” because of his great innovations in the late 1800’s. He has 30 coaster related patents. I’d love to pick his mind on how he came up with his ideas and how he made them happen.

What’s your favorite in-park eatery or food?

When it’s in the late afternoon at Kings Island and I need a snack, I’ll head to the Rivertown Potato Works for some thick cut fries! Mmm!

Tell us an interesting tidbit about yourself.

I got married to my beautiful wife last June, she puts up with my coaster obsession very well! We have 2 cats and 9 fish.

We look forward to both Larry and Kyle’s future contributions to Coaster101!
