A-Z Coaster of the Week: Goliath

Goliath at Six Flags over Georgia is this week’s A-Z Coaster of the Week.

The 200-foot-tall Bolliger & Mabillard hyper coaster opened in 2006. The coaster features a first drop of 175-feet. One of the coaster’s more noteworthy features is a 540° helix halfway through the course of the ride.

The coaster is 4,480 feet long and is largely situated outside of the park’s perimeter. The coaster dwarfs the 1999 Georgia Scorcher stand up coaster.

The coaster’s lift hill is really the only major element of the coaster located within the park.

The coaster’s station fits well within the 1950s American-themed section of the park.

Although Goliath isn’t the largest B&M hyper coaster, it is one of my favorites. Given the smaller footprint, it sure packs a punch.
