August New Ride Announcements

August is going to be a big month in the amusement industry. A number of amusement parks in the United States have scheduled events to announce their new attractions for the 2013 season.  Listed below is the schedule I’ve gathered so far. I’ve listed the announcement date, the park, what the rumored new attraction is supposed to be, and possible names to expect. Again, these are just rumors. We’ll have to wait until the announcement days to learn if our guesses were spot on or not.

Spoiler alert: If you want to be completely surprised by the park’s own announcement then do NOT read ahead.

Silver Dollar City
Date: Thursday, August 9th
What: A wooden roller coaster by Rocky Mountain Construction with a double barrel roll inversion!
Name: The Outlaw

Cedar Point
Date: Tuesday, August 13
What: Replacing Disaster Transport and Space Spiral is expected to be a B&M wing coaster that will interact with the newly configured entrance and ticket booth areas.
Name: Gatekeeper, Leviathan, Lotan, Hydra

California’s Great America
Date: Wednesday, August 29
What: A twisted wooden roller coaster by Great Coasters International.
Name: Gold Striker

Six Flag parks
Date: Thursday, August 30

What: Expect Six Flags to announce all their additions at each park on the same day.
Six Flags New England and Six Flags Over Texas
What: 385 foot tall world record breaking swing rides.
Name: Sky Screamer

Six Flags Magic Mountain
What: A record breaking launch coaster with inversions.
Name: Full Throttle

Six Flags St. Louis

What: Boomerang roller coaster (relocated from Six Flags over Texas).
