What’s up with Bluegrass Boardwalk?

The old Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom park has been a rollercoaster in itself since it closed in 2010. Ed Hart, the man who originally opened the park, tried to rally support for the reopening the park as simply “Kentucky Kingdom,” but that plan didn’t pan out. Now the Kochs from Holiday World have stepped forward to reopen the park as Bluegrass Boardwalk, but now their expected opening date of 2013 may need to be delayed to 2014.

The local news reports that the Kochs are awaiting the state’s approval of tax incentives. This delay is causing the park to face a likely opening date of 2014 rather than the previously-expected 2013. Also brought to light was the fact that several of the park’s larger roller coasters like T2 and Twisted Twins will not reopen with the park. The Thunder Run coaster is expected to open, although not in the park’s first season.

I really hope the Kochs can reopen this park, and with at least one coaster.
