Iron Wolf leaving Six Flags Great America

Six Flags today posted the following message on their Facebook page:

“After a long 21 year history at the park, we will be removing Iron Wolf. Make sure to get your last rides in – Iron Wolf’s Last Stand is September 5.”

The coaster is believe to be heading to Six Flags America, after the park filed a permit for a stand-up rollercoaster.

Iron Wolf opened in 1990 and was the first coaster designed by the then newly-formed company, Bolliger and Mabillard. I’m glad I brought a souvenir blueprint of the ride last time I was at Six Flags Great America, as I had a suspicion that its days were numbered.

We’ll keep you updated on its next home!
