A Look at The Incredible Hulk Coaster

It’s hard to believe, for me at least, that The Incredible Hulk coaster at Islands of Adventure opened nearly 12 years ago. Over the past decade it’s remained an icon for not only Universal Orlando but Florida’s theme park lineup as well. Incredible Hulk opened in May of 1999 and was an instant success. Due to Bolliger & Mabillard’s opposition to launched coasters, Universal was required to sub-contract the tire-driven launch system. The coaster’s queue is themed Bruce Banner’s lab, and the coaster launches right out of a tunnel leading from the “lab.” All in all, riders are flipped 7 times during the ride’s 3,700-foot-long course. The coaster stands 11 stories tall at its highest peak.
