Two Proposed Parks Shot Down

Not one but two proposed theme parks were shot down in their respective requests for rezoning. Orlando, Florida rejected a rezoning request for Orlando Thrill Park due to noise concerns. And officials in Spring Hill, Tennessee (outside of Nashville) rejected a rezoning request for Festival Tennesee, a ludicrous plan for a massive resort which included a theme park.

Orlando Thrill Park was to contain a plethora of rollercoasters. As you can see in this rendering, the neighboring residents likely weren’t open to a large theme park opening up right next door.

Ambitious plans for Festival Tennessee included “a theme park, two resort hotels with 4,000 rooms each, 80 restaurants, a charter school, sports complex and a shopping outlet.”

It’s a shame to see these parks not see the light of day, but it beats having another Hard Rock Park situation.
