Christmas Events: Hersheypark Candylane

As we continue our series of Christmas-in-the-park events, today we look at Hersheypark’s Candylane event, which runs through December 31, 2010. Although none of the park’s rollercoasters are operating, there is a wide array of rides and activities for the entire family: “The magic of the holidays comes to life at Hersheypark Christmas Candylane. With two million twinkling lights, rides for all ages, festive decorations, and Hershey’s Product Characters decked out in their holiday best, there is something for all to enjoy!”

One of the biggest attractions at Candylane is N.O.E.L. – Nights of Extraodinary Lights. Hersheypark describes the show as ” a breathtaking light show featuring over 125,000 dancing lights synchronized to your favorite toe-tapping, jingle-rocking Christmas music! N.O.E.L. will dazzle your senses with brilliant holiday colors and a classic selection of festive songs.” Below is a short video highlighting the light show:

Another exciting show at Candylane is Home Sweet Home For Christmas at the park’s Chevrolet Music Box Theatre. “It’s the night before Christmas and all through the house, traditional Christmas stories spring magically to life. Join the proud, American, Dover family as they find unexpected Christmas joy!”

Something especially unique to Candylane are the Sled Dogs. “Members of the Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club (PSDC) and Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue Group are returning to Hersheypark Christmas Candylane for a unique event the whole family is sure to enjoy! Each show will include a history of sled dog racing, explanation of the equipment, and a mini sled dog racing demonstration, followed by a question and answer session.” These fascinating animals add another dynamic to the Candylane event.

The family can also join Mr. and Mrs. Clause at The Tudor Grill inside the park to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Strolling characters and “The Mistle-Tones,” an energetic brass band can be found strolling through the park.
